Call or email us to start a conversation. We'll ask about your situation, answer your questions, and figure out together if The Palm is the right fit. No pressure, no sales pitch.
Whenever possible, we like to have potential residents visit the property in person before they commit. It gives you a chance to see where you'd be living, meet some of the people, and get a feel for the community. It also gives us a chance to meet you.
We don't have a formal application. What we do ask is that the person coming here demonstrates some willingness. That's our only non-negotiable. We don't take people who are being compelled by a court, a family member, or anyone else. Recovery doesn't work without willingness, and we'd rather be honest about that upfront.
You arrive at The Palm, meet your housemates, settle in, and start. Your first day includes orientation, meeting the community, and getting into the rhythm of the program.
You show up, you meet the people you'll be living with, and you settle in. The first few days are about getting comfortable with the rhythm of the place: meals together, morning meetings, step work, free time, evening groups. Nothing is thrown at you all at once.
From there, the experience looks different for everyone depending on where they are and how long they're here. But the foundation is the same: structured days, mentorship, community, and real work on yourself. You'll build relationships, get connected to meetings and sponsors in Charleston, and start living the kind of life that makes staying sober feel possible. By the time you leave, you won't just be sober. You'll know how to stay that way.
No, we do not accept insurance. Our program is private pay. We're happy to talk through pricing and payment options on a call.
We work with each resident on their timeline within reason. A minimum of 30 days is typical for meaningful recovery work, but we evaluate each situation individually. Early discharge is discussed with your mentor and the team, and we always have an exit plan in place.
We recommend medical detox before arrival, especially for alcohol or benzodiazepines. We can refer you to trusted local detox facilities. Arrival at The Palm is for stabilized recovery, not active detoxification. We'll discuss your specific situation during the admissions process.
Relapse is not a failure—it's sometimes part of the recovery journey. We take relapse seriously and have clear protocols. We'll work with you, your sponsor, and your family to assess next steps. In many cases, continued engagement with the program and community support is possible.
Yes. We support all paths to recovery. If you're on medication-assisted treatment (such as buprenorphine or methadone) or other prescribed medications, we work with you and your prescribing physician. Please disclose all medications during admissions.
